With 2750 Franchisees across over 20 divisions and growing, we are the largest franchise group in Australia, after Australia Post. As you will see on these pages or by trying us out, our commitment to service – whether to clients or Franchisees – is absolute... Jim Penman
One of the prime features of the Jim’s system is a focus on customer service. We have a careful selection system which rejects hundreds of potential Franchisees per year. We look for people with high standards who take pride in their work.
Our Franchisees decide exactly what services they want to offer, in which areas and on which days. We never give Franchisees work they do not want. So when we page out a lead, we expect it to be followed up promptly. An ignored lead not only upsets the customer, it denies work to another Franchisee who might need it.
All advertising is channeled through our Administration Centers, which carefully record any form of complaint. Most of our Franchisees give excellent service, but a small minority may come to the attention of National Office for excess complaints. We offer individual counseling and retraining sessions to Franchisees that need such assistance.
Regional Mentoring Ongoing support is through regular meetings and a one-to-one mentoring relationship with the Regional Franchisor. Franchisors are usually successful Franchisees with an in-depth knowledge of the business. They are expected to provide prompt and helpful answers to any questions, and to call each Franchisee where possible at least once a month. We phone survey our Franchisees annually, to check on their satisfaction and that the Franchisors support is as it should be. We do our best to keep costs low. Our phone deal saves around 50% on mobile phone costs, and some Franchisees in some divisions join us simply to take advantage of lower insurance premiums. We can get steep fleet discounts on most new vehicles.
Grow Without Limit We seek the best people, and often the best people are ambitious. For this reason, we place no limit on Franchise size. Some of our Franchisees turn over hundreds of thousands, even millions of dollars a year. They can put on extra staff without charge and take work wherever they wish. There are no fees on referrals.
We Work for You The Jim’s ethos is that we treat customers like royalty, and Franchisees like customers. To make this a reality, our Franchise Agreement offers Franchisees extraordinary rights, among them the right to change Franchisors and make their Franchisor sell out by a simple majority vote! We invite you to check our Contract for fairness and balance, against any other in the world.
Jim himself is a tireless advocate of Franchisee rights. Every Franchisee is given his personal phone number and email address, and encouraged to use it if they are unable to finalise a matter directly with their Regional Franchisor.

When you buy a franchise you are not buying a job, you are starting a business. Business' flourish or flounder on the efforts of the owners. The job of the owners is made harder or easier by the tools and support that they have access too. This is why many unsupported business ventures fail in the first two years of operation... and this is why smart people buy a good franchise. It's all about support and not having to re-invent the wheel. Your Regional Franchisor is there to support and assist you every step of the way, a big advantage when you are starting out. However, all the support in the world will not get you going if you can't get yourself going... at the end of the day it is your business. Are you a self-starter?
In finance you are constantly dealing with a wide variety of people... both customers and financial institutions. A good broker is generally a 'people-person' with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Is this you?
You will also be using computer programs to sort through customers requirements to pick out the right product... training will show you how, but if you have an abhorrence of computers and the online environment, then perhaps broking isn't for you.
You will need to be organised. No getting around it. You may have as many as 30 enquiries going at any given time, and this can become overwhelming if you are not organised and following a system. Again, the value of a franchise with Jim's Finance Professionals is that you will have a Regional Franchisor who will mentor and assist you in formulating the right systems to stay on top of the workload.
So are you a self-starter, people-person, good communicator, computer literate who is organised and methodical in your approach to business? If you are, we need to talk! The typical background of a successful franchisee may involve a related industry (accounting, financial planner, banking sector) or a strong business background in an unrelated field. These are the type of people who are most likely to meet our standards and be offered a franchise... but there is only one way to find out if it is you, so hit CONTACT US now and we'll give you a call to discuss.
Training is a very important aspect of the development of any business operator. Training consists of three days of general training by the Jim's Academy at the corporate headquarters in Victoria. You will go over the Jim's systems and values, concentrating on how and why a Jim's business stands out from the crowd. You will get to meet Jim Penman and form networking relationships with many of the other franchisees on the course... one day they will want business finance!
After passing the general induction training you move on to Finance Division training. This is also conducted at the corporate headquarters and covers topics such as:
Tools of the Trade: Systems, crm programs, ongoing training, experience mentoring, one-to-one problem solving and scenarios, access to Jim's Group business leaders, referral training, operations manual and complaint management, Leads and processes, accreditations with the banks, loan processing, vehicle and dress standards, Aggregator services with PLAN Australia, listening and note taking, calculator processes and appointments, territories and marketing, LAMP marketing plan and much more. This phase of the training goes for a further 5 days.
At the end of the training you go back to your own home or shop front office and start to apply what you know to the development of your business. Now the ongoing support and training kicks in, with regular 'pro-active' calls from your Regional Franchisor to help you to grow and flourish, and including annual business reviews.
So you understand the value of a big brand and the strength of a franchise in business. You have an idea of the industry and the type of skills and attributes you will need to apply to your broking business. You can see how the training and ongoing support of one of Australia's largest and most successful franchising systems will help you to achieve your goals in business. So what's the next step and processes to becoming a Jim's Finance Professional?
Click on CONTACT US and fill in the survey information. Don't hold back, give us as much information about yourself as possible. We will then contact you by phone for an initial discussion and send out an information pack. After you have read through the pack you will have further questions, so we will have a second phone conversation. If at the end of that we are both interested we will organise a meeting.
At the end of the meeting if we are both happy to move forward we will then organise to provide you with the franchise contract and take a deposit to allow us to book you into the training. You must hold the contract for 14 days before we will allow you to sign up, giving you ample time to discuss it with solicitors and accountants. If everything is still satisfactory you will then sign the contract and pay the balance of the purchase price and do your training. Congratulations... you are now one of the Jim's Finance Professionals team!
